A SQL Injection in the RegistrationSharing module of SUSE Linux SMT allows remote attackers to cause execute arbitrary SQL statements. Affected releases are SUSE Linux SMT: versions prior to 3.0.37.
The bug was discovered 10/06/2018. The weakness was disclosed 10/04/2018 as Bug 1103810 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.suse.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-12470 since 06/15/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 171616 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security Update for smt, yast2-smt (SUSE-SU-2018:2898-1)).
Upgrading to version 3.0.37 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
