Double free vulnerability in qedit.dll in DirectShow in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 Gold and R2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted JPEG image, aka "DirectShow Memory Corruption Vulnerability."
The weakness was released 03/11/2014 by iDefense Labs with VeriSign iDefense Labs as MS14-013 as confirmed bulletin (Technet) via iDefense Labs. The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-0301 since 12/03/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 06/15/2021).
