A use-after-free vulnerability can occur when refresh driver timers are refreshed in some circumstances during shutdown when the timer is deleted while still in use. This results in a potentially exploitable crash. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 62, Firefox ESR < 60.2, and Thunderbird < 60.2.1.
The bug was discovered 09/05/2018. The weakness was disclosed 10/18/2018 by Holger Fuhrmannek (Alex) as Bug 1470260 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-12377 since 06/14/2018. The attack may be launched remotely.
