A cross-site scripting issue existed in Safari. This issue was addressed with improved URL validation. This issue affected versions prior to iOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1, Safari 12.0.1, iTunes 12.9.1, iCloud for Windows 7.8.
The bug was discovered 10/30/2018. The weakness was published 10/29/2018 by Ryan Pickren as HT209196 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-4377 since 01/02/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Upgrading to version 12.0.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
