A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox 27.0 (Web Browser). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function nsHTMLDocument::Open

Mozilla Firefox before 28.0, Firefox ESR 24.x before 24.4, Thunderbird before 24.4, and SeaMonkey before 2.25 allow remote attackers to bypass the popup blocker via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 03/18/2014 by Mariusz Mlynski as MFSA2014-29 as confirmed advisory (Website) via Pwn2Own Contest. The advisory is available at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-1511 since 01/16/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
A public exploit has been developed in Ruby. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as highly functional. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 73084 (CentOS 5 / 6 : firefox (CESA-2014:0310)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CentOS Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 121853 (Red Hat Update for Xulrunner Firefox (RHSA-2014:0310)).
Upgrading to version 28 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. The advisory contains the following remark:
