CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform up to 5.9.0 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been classified as critical. Affected is some unknown functionality of the file /mics/j_spring_security_check. The manipulation of the argument j_username with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity.

The bug was discovered 12/19/2013. The weakness was published 04/02/2014 by Nico Leidecker with Matta Consulting as MATTA-2013-004 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at trustmatta.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2014-1409 since 01/10/2014. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592. The advisory points out:

The 'j_username' parameter of the script at https://<target>/mics/j_spring_security_check is vulnerable to blind XPath Injection, allowing an unauthenticated attacker to retrieve the underlying XML document. This XML document is an excerpt of the configuration file of the device. It contains obfuscated passwords and, depending on configuration, might contain domain credentials and allow the attacker to reposition both internally and on any of the attached devices.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 62 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.

Upgrading to version 5.9.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at X-Force (92351). Further details are available at packetstormsecurity.com. Similar entry is available at 12841.
