The bug was discovered 05/29/2018. The weakness was published 01/09/2019 by Natalie Silvanovich with Google Project Zero (Website). The advisory is available at debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-6124 since 01/23/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
