The weakness was presented 04/14/2014 by David Klein with DHK Enterprises as JSA10624 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.juniper.net. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with Juniper. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2014-2842 since 04/10/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The advisory points out:

(...) the firewall crashes and restarts or if in a HA configuration triggers a failover.

Upgrading to version 6.3.0r17 eliminates this vulnerability. It is possible to mitigate the problem by applying the configuration setting Disable WebUI/WebAuth. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
