CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Supportutils up to 3.1-5.7.0 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Pacemaker. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a link following vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-59. The product attempts to access a file based on the filename, but it does not properly prevent that filename from identifying a link or shortcut that resolves to an unintended resource. Impacted is integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

In supportutils, before version 3.1-5.7.1 and if pacemaker is installed on the system, an unprivileged user could have overwritten arbitrary files in the directory that is used by supportutils to collect the log files.

The bug was discovered 03/15/2019. The weakness was shared 03/05/2019 as Bug 1118460 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.suse.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2018-19638 since 11/28/2018. The attack needs to be approached locally. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 172133 (OpenSUSE Security Update for supportutils (openSUSE-SU-2019:0293-1)).

Upgrading to version 3.1-5.7.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
