A use-after-free vulnerability can occur when a raw pointer to a DOM element on a page is obtained using JavaScript and the element is then removed while still in use. This results in a potentially exploitable crash. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 60.6, Firefox ESR < 60.6, and Firefox < 66.
The bug was discovered 03/19/2019. The weakness was published 04/26/2019 by Markus Vervier (Nils) with X41 D-Sec GmbH (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at access.redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2019-9790 since 03/14/2019. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
