An issue was discovered in Serpico (aka SimplE RePort wrIting and CollaboratiOn tool) 1.3.0. It does not use CSRF Tokens to mitigate against CSRF; it uses the Origin header (which must match the request origin). This is problematic in conjunction with XSS: one can escalate privileges from User level to Administrator.
The weakness was released 01/15/2020 by Joel Aviad Ossi (websecnl) with OS.SI Consulting B.V. (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at websec.nl. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2019-19854 since 12/17/2019. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
