An issue was discovered in libgpac.a in GPAC before 0.8.0, as demonstrated by MP4Box. It contains a heap-based buffer over-read in BS_ReadByte (called from gf_bs_read_bit) in utils/bitstream.c that can cause a denial of service via a crafted MP4 file.

The weakness was released 03/24/2020. This vulnerability was named CVE-2019-20630 since 03/24/2020. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 0.8.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
