Buffer overflow in the Still Image Service in Windows 2000 allows local users to gain additional privileges via a long WM_USER message, aka the "Still Image Service Privilege Escalation" vulnerability.
The issue has been introduced in 02/17/2000. The weakness was disclosed 11/14/2000 with Microsoft (Website). The advisory is available at atstake.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2000-0851. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
