mailfile.cgi CGI program in MailFile 1.10 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by specifying the target file name in the "filename" parameter in a POST request, which is then sent by email to the address specified in the "email" parameter.
The weakness was presented 12/19/2000 by FIRST as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2000-0977. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
