Cross-site scripting (CSS) vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2000 allows remote attackers to cause other clients to execute certain script or read cookies via malicious script in an invalid URL that is not properly quoted in an error message.

The weakness was presented 09/20/2001 by Hiromitsu Takagi with Microsoft as MS01-045 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2001-0658. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

Applying the patch MS01-045 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at microsoft.com.
