Directory traversal vulnerability in story.pl in Interactive Story 1.3 allows a remote attacker to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) attack on the "next" parameter.

The weakness was presented 07/15/2001 by qDefense as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2001-0804. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details and also a exploit are known.
