A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5/6.0 (Web Browser). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown function of the component Content Header Handler. Internet Explorer 6.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by modifying the Content-Disposition and Content-Type header fields in a way that causes Internet Explorer to believe that the file is safe to open without prompting the user, aka the "File Execution Vulnerability."
The issue has been introduced in 07/08/2000. The weakness was published 11/26/2001 by Jouko Pynnonen as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2001-0727. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
