A vulnerability was found in Posadis DNS Server up to m5. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects the function log_print
of the component Log Message Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. Format string vulnerability in log_print() function of Posadis DNS server before version m5pre2 allows local users and possibly remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via format strings that are inserted into logging messages.
The weakness was disclosed 03/27/2002 (Website). The advisory is shared at online.securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-0501. The exploitation is known to be easy.
