Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6.0 does not properly verify the domain of a frame within a browser window, which allows remote attackers to read client files or invoke executable objects via the Object tag, aka "Cross Domain Verification in Object Tag."

The issue has been introduced in 07/08/2000. The weakness was released 09/24/2002 by Thor Larholm as MS02-047 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2002-0723. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
