leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in none.php for SunPS iRunbook 2.5.2 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a "..:" sequence (dot-dot variant) in the argument.
The weakness was disclosed 10/04/2002 by Portcullis (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at online.securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-1033. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
