The sendmail.jsp sample page in Oracle 9i Application Server (9iAS) allows remote attackers to send arbitrary emails.

The weakness was shared 12/31/2002 by David Litchfield as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-1630 since 03/26/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

By approaching the search of inurl:sendmail.jsp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 57619 (Oracle Application Server Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86327 (Oracle 9i Application Server Sample Pages Anonymous Access Vulnerability).
