Format string vulnerability in PerlRTE_example1.pl in WASD 7.1, 7.2.0 through 7.2.3, and 8.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands or crash the server via format strings in the $name variable.
The bug was discovered 08/26/2002. The weakness was presented 11/29/2005 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1825 since 06/29/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely.
