A vulnerability has been found in Factosystem Weblog 0.9b/1.0 Beta/1.1 Beta and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in FactoSystem CMS allows remote attackers to perform unauthorized database actions via (1) the authornumber parameter in author.asp, (2) the discussblurbid parameter in discuss.asp, (3) the name parameter in holdcomment.asp, and (4) the email parameter in holdcomment.asp.
The weakness was released 04/02/2003 by Matthew Murphy (mattmurphy) (Website). The advisory is shared at online.securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2002-1499. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
