Based on the description from the medium post, this doesn't seem like a vulnerability in Snipe-IT. They uploaded a valid PDF file that contains potentially malicious Javascript to a function that allows PDF uploads. If your PDF viewer has Javascript active (and apparently the Edge PDF viewer does), then it gets executed. If anything, that's a vuln in said PDF viewer...
