TYPO3 is an open source PHP based web content management system released under the GNU GPL. It has been discovered that the `f:asset.css` view helper is vulnerable to cross-site scripting when user input is passed as variables to the CSS. Update to TYPO3 version 10.4.32 or 11.5.16 that fix the problem. There are no known workarounds for this issue.
The weakness was published 09/14/2022 as GHSA-fv2m-9249-qx85. It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2022-36108 since 07/15/2022. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Upgrading to version 10.4.32 or 11.5.16 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 6863f73818c36b0b88c677ba533765c8074907b4 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
