Monit 1.4 to 4.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via an HTTP POST request with a negative Content-Length field.
The weakness was presented 11/24/2003 by Evgeny Legerov with S-Quadra as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared for download at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2003-1084 since 02/13/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
