The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in edittag.cgi in EditTag 1.1 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a "%2F.." (encoded slash dot dot) in the file parameter.

The weakness was shared 12/31/2003 (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-1351 since 10/14/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy.
