A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Jelsoft vBulletin 3.0 Beta 2 (Forum Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the file register.php. The manipulation of the argument reg_site
with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
** DISPUTED ** NOTE: this issue has been disputed by the vendor. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in register.php for unknown versions of vBulletin allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or web script via the reg_site (or possibly regsite) parameter. NOTE: the vendor has disputed this issue, saying "There is no hidden field called reg_site , nor any $reg_site variable anywhere in the vBulletin 2 or vBulletin 3 source code or templates, nor has it ever existed. We can only assume that this vulnerability was found in a site running code modified from that supplied by Jelsoft."

No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. By approaching the search of inurl:register.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
