News Manager Lite 2.5 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication and gain administrator privileges by setting the ADMIN parameter in the NEWS_LOGIN cookie.

The weakness was shared 03/20/2004 by Manuel Lopez (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1847 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
