A vulnerability was found in ClamAV up to 0.68.1 (Anti-Malware Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component VirusEvent Directive Handler. The "%f" feature in the VirusEvent directive in Clam AntiVirus daemon (clamd) before 0.70 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters in a file name.
The weakness was presented 03/30/2004 by l0om (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.info. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1876 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
