PostNuke 0.7.2.6 allows remote attackers to gain information via a direct HTTP request to files in the (1) includes/blocks directory, (2) pnadodb directory, (3) NS-NewUser module, (4) NS-Your_Account, (5) NS-LostPassword module, or (6) NS-User module which reveals the path to the web server in a PHP error message.

The weakness was disclosed 04/21/2004 by Janek Vind with waraxe (Website). The advisory is available at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1956 since 05/04/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12104 (PostNuke Pheonix Multiple Cross-Site Scripting and Path Disclosure Vulnerabilities).

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the vulnerability database at X-Force (15933). The entry 21783 is pretty similar.
