Oracle 10g Database Server stores the password for the SYSMAN account in cleartext in the world-readable emoms.properties file, which could allow local users to gain DBA privileges.

The weakness was disclosed 08/04/2004 by Esteban Martinez Fayo (Alexander) (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1366 since 01/07/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1552 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed in SQL. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k.
