Google TensorFlow up to 2.11.0 TensorListSplit comparison

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Google TensorFlow up to 2.11.0 (Artificial Intelligence Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function TensorListSplit. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a comparison vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-697. The product compares two entities in a security-relevant context, but the comparison is incorrect, which may lead to resultant weaknesses. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

TensorFlow is an open source platform for machine learning. Versions prior to 2.12.0 and 2.11.1 have a Floating Point Exception in TensorListSplit with XLA. A fix is included in TensorFlow version 2.12.0 and version 2.11.1.

The weakness was released 03/25/2023 as GHSA-647v-r7qq-24fh. The advisory is shared for download at This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2023-25673 since 02/09/2023. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 03/25/2023).

Upgrading to version 2.11.1 or 2.12.0 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch 728113a3be690facad6ce436660a0bc1858017fa is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
