A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Openconnect Webconnect 6.4.4/6.5. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file jretest.html. The manipulation of the argument WCP_USER
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in jretest.html in WebConnect 6.5 and 6.4.4, and possibly earlier versions, allows remote attackers to read keys within arbitrary INI formatted files via "..//" sequences in the WCP_USER parameter.
The bug was discovered 02/21/2005. The weakness was shared 02/21/2005 by Dennis Rand as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-0465 since 05/12/2004. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
