A vulnerability has been found in tshirtecommerce 2.1.4 on PrestaShop (E-Commerce Management Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the file tshirtecommerce/ajax.php?type=svg of the component POST Parameter Handler. The manipulation of the argument file_name
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
An issue was discovered in the tshirtecommerce (aka Custom Product Designer) component 2.1.4 for PrestaShop. An HTTP request can be forged with the POST parameter file_name in the tshirtecommerce/ajax.php?type=svg endpoint, to allow a remote attacker to traverse directories on the system in order to open files (without restriction on the extension and path). Only files that can be parsed in XML can be opened. This is exploited in the wild in March 2023.
The weakness was disclosed 06/02/2023. The advisory is shared for download at friends-of-presta.github.io. This vulnerability was named CVE-2023-27639 since 03/05/2023. Technical details and also a exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
It is declared as highly functional.
