A vulnerability classified as critical was found in SugarCRM Sugar Sales up to 2.0.1c. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the file index.php of the component Login. The manipulation of the argument theme
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in SugarCRM Sugar Sales 2.0.1c and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files and possibly execute arbitrary PHP code via .. (dot dot) sequences in the (1) module, (2) action, or (3) theme parameters to index.php, (4) the theme parameter to Login.php, and possibly other parameters or scripts.
The weakness was published 01/10/2005 by James Bercegay with Gulftech (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-1227 since 12/14/2004. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
