A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in phpBB (Forum Software). This affects some unknown functionality of the file usercp_register.php. The manipulation of the argument avatarselect
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in (1) usercp_register.php and (2) usercp_avatar.php for phpBB 2.0.11, and possibly other versions, with gallery avatars enabled, allows remote attackers to delete (unlink) arbitrary files via "/../" sequences in the avatarselect parameter.
