A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Photopost ReviewPost PHP Pro up to 2.83 (Programming Language Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown function of the file showcat.php. The manipulation of the argument report
with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in ReviewPost PHP Pro before 2.84 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) si parameter to showcat.php, (2) cat or (3) page parameter to showproduct.php, or (4) report parameter to reportproduct.php.
The weakness was shared 05/02/2005 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-0270 since 02/10/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:showcat.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 2.84 eliminates this vulnerability.
