Texas Instruments TI-RTOS, when configured to use HeapMem heap(default), malloc returns a valid pointer to a small buffer on extremely large values, which can trigger an integer overflow vulnerability in 'HeapMem_allocUnprotected' and result in code execution.

The weakness was disclosed 11/20/2023 by David Atch, Omri Ben Bassat and Tamir Ariel as icsa-21-119-04. The advisory is shared for download at cisa.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2021-22636 since 01/05/2021. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 4.10.03, 4.40.00 or 4.40.00.07 eliminates this vulnerability.
