A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in dilab resumable.php up to 0.1.4 (Programming Language Software). Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function of the file src/Resumable.php. The manipulation of the argument resumableFilename with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that should be within a restricted directory, but it does not properly neutralize "../" sequences that can resolve to a location that is outside of that directory. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. The summary by CVE is:

resumable.php (aka PHP backend for resumable.js) 0.1.4 before 3c6dbf5 allows arbitrary file upload anywhere in the filesystem via ../ in multipart/form-data content to upload.php. (File overwrite hasn't been possible with the code available in GitHub in recent years, however.)

The bug was discovered 12/07/2023. The weakness was disclosed 12/26/2023 by William Desportes (williamdes) with Wdes SAS as 34 as confirmed bug report (GitHub Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with dilab. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2023-52086. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1006 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

A public exploit has been developed by williamdes (williamdes) in PHP. It is possible to download the exploit at github.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 19 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:src/Resumable.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Applying the patch 3c6dbf5170b01cbb712013c7d0a83f5aac45653b is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com.
