FlatNuke 2.5.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or obtain sensitive information via (1) a direct request to foot_news.php, which triggers an infinite loop, or (2) direct requests to unknown scripts, which reveals the web document root in an error message.

The weakness was disclosed 06/09/2005 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at secwatch.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-1892 since 06/08/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1499.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:foot_news.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
