Rakkarsoft RakNet network library 2.33 and earlier, when released before 30 May 2005, and as used in multiple products including nFusion Elite Warriors: Vietnam, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a zero-byte UDP packet.
The weakness was shared 06/09/2005 by Luigi Auriemma as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2005-1899 since 06/08/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1499 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
