Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in WAGO Controller BACnet IP, Controller BACnet MS TP, Ethernet Controller 3rd Generation and Fieldbus Coupler Ethernet 3rd Generation up to FW13. This issue affects an unknown functionality of the component Packets Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a buffer overflow vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-120. The product copies an input buffer to an output buffer without verifying that the size of the input buffer is less than the size of the output buffer, leading to a buffer overflow. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
An unautheticated remote attacker could send specifically crafted packets to a affected device. If an authenticated user then views that data in a specific page of the web-based management a buffer overflow will be triggered to gain full access of the device.
The weakness was released 03/13/2024 as VDE-2023-039. It is possible to read the advisory at cert.vde.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-10123 since 09/14/2023. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
