Firefox before 1.0.7 and Mozilla Suite before 1.7.12 allows remote attackers to spawn windows without user interface components such as the address and status bar, which could be used to conduct spoofing or phishing attacks.
The bug was discovered 09/21/2005. The weakness was released 09/23/2005 (Website). The advisory is available at redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-2707 since 08/26/2005. Upgrading to version 1.0.7 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 31016.
