CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Format string vulnerability in input_cdda.c in xine-lib 1-beta through 1-beta 3, 1-rc, 1.0 through 1.0.2, and 1.1.1 allows remote servers to execute arbitrary code via format string specifiers in metadata in CDDB server responses when the victim plays a CD.

The bug was discovered 10/10/2005. The weakness was shared 10/08/2005 by Ulf Harnhammar with Debian (Website). The advisory is shared at xinehq.de. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-2967 since 09/19/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.

A public exploit has been developed in Perl and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is available at archives.neohapsis.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 19952 (Slackware 10.0 / 10.1 / 10.2 / 9.1 / current : xine-lib (SSA:2005-283-01)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Slackware Local Security Checks and running in the context l.

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 2 days after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (22545), Tenable (19952) and Exploit-DB (1242).
