Unspecified vulnerability in Microsoft Word 2000 and 2002, Office Word and Word Viewer 2003, Word 2004 and 2004 v. X for Mac, and Works 2004, 2005, and 2006 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a Word document with a malformed string that triggers memory corruption, a different vulnerability than CVE-2006-6456.

The bug was discovered 12/05/2006. The weakness was presented 12/05/2006 by Juha-Matti Laurio with Microsoft as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. The vendor was not involved in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2006-5994 since 11/21/2006. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/13/2021).
