A vulnerability was found in PHP-Fusion up to 6.00.200 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file members.php. The manipulation of the argument sortby with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in PHP-Fusion 6.00.200 through 6.00.300 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the sortby parameter in members.php and (2) IMG tags.
The weakness was presented 12/22/2005 by krasza (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at secunia.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2005-4516 since 12/28/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
