Xpdf, as used in products such as gpdf, kpdf, pdftohtml, poppler, teTeX, CUPS, libextractor, and others, allows attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via streams that end prematurely, as demonstrated using the (1) CCITTFaxDecode and (2) DCTDecode streams, aka "Infinite CPU spins."
The weakness was disclosed 12/31/2005 by Chris Evans (Website). The advisory is available at ubuntulinux.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2005-3625 since 11/16/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
