Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in coollabsio coolify up to 4.0.0-beta.358. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component Shell Command Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a os command injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-78. The product constructs all or part of an OS command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended OS command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. In version 4.0.0-beta.358 and possibly earlier versions, when creating or updating a "project," it is possible to inject arbitrary shell commands by altering the project name. If a name includes unescaped characters, such as single quotes (`'`), it breaks out of the intended command structure, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the host system. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the host server, which could result in full system compromise; create, modify, or delete sensitive system files; and escalate privileges depending on the permissions of the executed process. Attackers with access to project management features could exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized control over the host environment. Version 4.0.0-beta.359 fixes this issue.
The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2025-22606 since 01/07/2025. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1202.
Upgrading to version 4.0.0-beta.359 eliminates this vulnerability.
