Oracle Database Server 8.1.7.4 sql injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability has been found in Oracle Database Server 8.1.7.4 (Database Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Unspecified vulnerability in Oracle Database Server 8.1.7.4, 9.0.1.5, and 9.2.0.6 has unknown impact and attack vectors in the Oracle Spatial component, aka Vuln# DB09. NOTE: Oracle has not disputed reliable claims that this issue is SQL injection in MDSYS.PRVT_IDX using the (1) EXECUTE_INSERT, (2) EXECUTE_DELETE, (3) EXECUTE_UPDATE, (4) EXECUTE UPDATE, and (5) CRT_DUMMY functions.

The weakness was published 04/20/2006 by Alexander Kornbrust with Generation Security Software Ltd. as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-1874 since 04/20/2006. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The real existence of this vulnerability is still doubted at the moment. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56052 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (April 2006 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19203 (Oracle Critical Patch Update - April 2006).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (26053) and Tenable (56052). Similar entries are available at 2015, 29753, 29752 and 29751.
